Subject context – task / activity description
As part of our literacy we have been looking at explanation texts. The children has decided on their own shirt machine- a machine that will make an invisible shirt, an edible shirt or TV shirt – the type of shirt is their choice

In this task children were asked to draw their machine, where the machine will start and finish, and include labels of all the parts with functions.

It was for the children to decide on which program they wanted to use.

This child was very quick to select word as her program. She understood how to add the drawing toolbar. She decided to use the auto-shape function on the drawing toolbar to design her machine.

This child was able to move and resize the objects so that they were in the correct position.

She then added arrows and text to make her labels clear.

Student Comments:
I really enjoyed making my shirt machine.
